Opening a new ICU at Aswan University Hospital

Today, on Wednesday, General Major. Ashraf Attia-Aswan Governor witnessed the opening of the Intensive Care Unit at Aswan University Hospital in the attendance of Prof.Ahmed Ghallab-Aswan University President, Dr. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshourie-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ehan Hanfie-Vice Dean od the Ministery of Health, Dr. Ashraf Maabad- Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, Dr. Essam Abu Al-Majd- Director of the Central Administration for Health Affairs at the hospital, and Dr. Moez Al-Shahdi-CEO of the Egyptian Cure Bank.

Prof. Ahmed Ghallab stated that the Intensive Care Unit is a gift from the Egyptian Cure Bank and includes 10 beds, 10 monitors, and a central supervision unit, 18 solutions pump, 5 drugs pump, 5 airbeds, 10 modern respirators whose cost is 10 million pounds, as well as the new incinerator has been installed and operated to get rid of the medical rubbish of the university hospital and whose cost is estimated at 7 million pounds.

Prof. Ahmed Ghallab added that opening ICU is considered a new addition for serving the patients of university hospital which includes 75 intensive care units, and by the opening of this unit, the total number reached 85 Intensive Care Units for serving Aswan Governorate people and the neighboring governorates.

Dr. Moez Al-Shahdi-CEO of the Egyptian Cure Bank stated that Egyptian Cure Bank has worked for 10 years to provide a free health care system for the incapable citizens of the Egyptian community through our experience in the field of charitable and health works, plus our permanent and robust participation with the official entities for presenting the medical services through governmental and university hospitals.

Dr. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshourie-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine pointed out that ICU is considered an essential element at Aswan University Hospital and that’s what we call ”a life-saving unit for patients”’, as well as it’s considered a new addition at Aswan University Hospital. Dr. Ashraf Maabad- Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals explained that the university hospital works to receive all sick cases from Aswan Governorate and the neighboring governorates; the management of the hospital seeks to present the medical service that is fitting with Aswan people, as well as the unit is considered a new breakthrough that is added to the total number of the Intensive Care Units at Aswan University Hospital.
