Minister of Higher Education Inaugurates Aswan University’s New Administrative Building

  

Today morning, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, minister of higher education and scientific research, inaugurated Aswan University’s new administrative building in the Sahary region, in the presence of Aswan university president Prof. Ayman Othman, presidents of several universities, higher education leaders as well as Aswan university previous presidents.

  The minister praised the new administrative building, which is a result of continuous development and expansion of Aswan university buildings and facilities in parallel with the efforts exerted in the university regarding the qualitative development of educational and research services, this reflects the attention paid by the Egyptian state and its political leadership to university education through the huge investments to develop and modernize universities, in order to play their scientific and educational role as intended. He confirmed the importance of linking educational programs with the requirements of the labor market and development goals according to Egypt’s vision (2030).

  The Minister also inspected the faculty of nursing examination halls and praised the strict application of precautionary measures, he ordered to continue these procedures throughout the first semester exams period.

  The minister of higher education and university presidents attended an art show made by the music education department’s choir. The minister praised the students’ artistic performance, which included some national and heritage songs of Aswan.

  For his part, Prof. Ayman Othman said that Aswan university is witnessing a great boom in its various educational, research, and construction sectors, in light of the great interest of the political leadership in Egyptian universities, explaining that the new central administration building is built on a total area of ​​31,960 square meters and that the total area of the project includes a two-floor building with an area of ​​6600 m2 for each floor, the area of ​​the general site surrounding the building is 25360 m2.

   Prof. Othman added that this building contains six wards, accommodating all administrative sectors, namely: the university’s senior administration, the university president’s office, his deputies, the secretary-general, assistant secretaries, and the university’s administration in its various sectors, which include: (education and student affairs, postgraduate studies and research, community service and environmental affairs), the central library, training rooms, conference rooms, and electronic examination rooms.

  For his part, Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the ministry of higher education and scientific research, pointed out that Aswan University is one of the beacons of science and knowledge on Upper Egypt, and is witnessing development at the level of its scientific and educational facilities and units, as well as its uniqueness and excellence in academic programs and disciplines, which qualified it to achieve advanced global rankings, including: first place at the level of Egyptian universities in Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022, 115thplace in a list that included 900 universities worldwide last October, 201-250 globally according to THE World University Rankings, first place locally in engineering for the 3rd year in a row, among the top 400 universities on October 2021, the first place at the level of Egyptian universities in the field of computer science, the fourth in physics locally, among the best 600 universities in the world, in addition to its presence for the second year in a row in the Top Arab Universities.
