Raising the awareness of immunity in the light of Corona-virus epidemic

Prof.Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed-Aswan University President stated that in 20 Jan.2020 it has been signed  an agreement contract regarding ”The Immune Project” that is subordinated to the European Union which the university starts to implement it from January 2021 for 3 years since the implementing date for all participating universities including: Aswan University and other four Egyptian Universities and Al Azahar University is the main coordinator for the project in Egypt, as well as Cairo University, Damanhur University, Ain Shams University, National University, Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece, Lorraine University in France, and Leipzig Institute in Germany.

Dr.Ahmed Ghallab added that this project involves various governorates in Egypt and some of European countries and this because at the present time, the world confronts the emerging corona pandemic and others viruses; so it’s become necessary to the Egyptian Universities to present awareness for the surrounding community particularly youth and other citizens, and identification with the importance role of the immun and ways of strengthening it as it’s represented a blocking wall in the human body against viruses.

Dr.Ahmed Ghallab indicated that the university  plays this educational and awareness role by doctors through their different specializations,pharmacists, nurses, academic staff and their assistants, teachers especially teachers of science and biology.

Dr. Nadie Kamal Aziz Gerges- Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center at Aswan University and member in the project explained that  the benefits of the project summarize as the following:

1-According to the University; the promotion in the scientific research internal the university and be within the scientific classification among the global universities; as well as working on building a developing research scientific center inside Aswan University and this facilitates the trouble of traveling on researchers through funding the project by the European Federation.

2-According to the participated faculties in the project; helping in updating the educational curricula of the immun and the integrated and coordinated  linking among the contents of curricula at the different faculties through exchanging experiences between experts and the academic staffs and their assistants in these universities through a financial support by the European Community.

3-According to the academic staffs; helping them in increasing the knowledge outcome for them and their students regarding the immunity changes and what result from it globally, regionally, and locally.

4-According to students and graduates; helping them in increasing the knowledge about the immunity changes and what affects on it and what results by it; and the capability on the scientific and realistic applying for what is studied and the actual benefiting from it; as well as granting them accredited certification internationally which allow opening different working scopes for the graduates, and new job opportunities that may be just for the owners of this certification inside Egypt and in the countries of the European Community.

5-According to the community; promoting with the social awareness and the positive effect regarding avoiding the influencing factors on immune changes which lead to limit diseases which result from these changes and early attempts to explore and prevent these diseases.

6- Finally, for our beloved Egypt, helping in keeping in the economic resources for more increasing in sustainable development and promoting with the living level of the individual to achieve to the vision of Egypt 2030.

Universities have already started to apply the participation in the project including Aswan University through 3 statements  the first for the community, the second for academic staff and their assistants in the faculties of Medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, agriculture and science, and the third for postgraduate studies students and graduates of these scientific faculties.
