The Department of French Language and Literature aims to provide integrated education and training in the French language and literature of the Francophone world, as well as applied and theoretical linguistics. It also attempts to improve students’ linguistic and intellectual abilities so that they can fulfill the demands of the labor market. The department is concerned with scientific research and community service, and it promotes cultural understanding and communication. Locally and regionally, the Department of French Language and Literature strives for excellence in teaching and research in French language literature and linguistics.
